Polish police found illegal mining farm in their own building

A curious incident occurred at the Warsaw Police Department – the police found an illegal mining farm in their own building.

According to local newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, the bitcoin mining equipment does not belong to the police, but to a civilian employee working in the IT department of the department. According to law enforcement officials, the farm did not last long. At the same time, there was no connection to the information network of the police station, the miner used only the electricity of the station.

According to the press secretary of the chief of police, Mariusz Ciarka, at the time of the discovery of the farm, the employee had already been fired. The devices “were not connected to any database and the case is mainly about theft of electricity.” In addition, the case was referred to the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office. Investigators are now looking for possible accomplices of the “underground miner”

At the end of last year, it was reported that airport security in the Italian city of Lamezia Terme had discovered several cryptocurrency mining farms on the premises of the airport. In addition, the cybercriminals spread the miner virus into the airport’s computer systems.
