According to a survey conducted among teens in the United States by the consulting firm RSM US in conjunction with Junior Achievement USA, 25% of respondents prefer to invest in cryptocurrencies.
Researchers surveyed 1,004 teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 to find out their attitudes toward financial markets and investment. Most American teens trust the stock market – 43% of respondents said they would invest in stocks. 25% called cryptocurrencies more attractive, and 24% of those surveyed would invest in real estate. At the same time, 37% of respondents do not want to invest anywhere at all.
Respondents noted that attitudes towards the stock market were influenced by the story of early 2021, when the community of users on the Reddit forum “accelerated” the stock price of the GameStop chain of stores, which led to a significant increase in the price and losses from hedge funds. At the same time, 20% of respondents stressed that speculative trading in shares is too dangerous, and long-term investments are more attractive.
A recent study by Save the Student found that the number of American students investing in cryptocurrencies has tripled over the past year.
