According to a survey conducted by the Francisco Gavidia University of San Salvador, only 7.5% of the country’s residents use cryptocurrency. 92% of respondents emphasized that they had never used Bitcoin to pay for goods and services, and only 1.3% of respondents linked the fate of the country with the first cryptocurrency.
At the same time, the people of El Salvador ardently support their president, Nayib Bukele. It was Bukele who led the campaign to recognize Bitcoin as legal tender, and also launched a mining business and coordinated the purchase of the first cryptocurrency. Currently, there are over 5,800 BTC in state wallets. According to 58% of the 1,224 people surveyed, El Salvador is now moving in the right direction.
In August, Nayib Bukele admitted that the pace of Bitcoin adoption in El Salvador was slower than he had hoped. However, the country’s government managed to raise $1.6 billion for the construction of Bitcoin City.
