Users of the Polymarket prediction market suggest that outgoing US President Joe Biden may pardon the convicted head of the bankrupt FTX cryptocurrency exchange, Sam Bankman-Fried.

According to the US Constitution, the president of the country has the power to pardon persons convicted of federal crimes. As a rule, a surge in pardons occurs during changes in presidential administrations.

Against the backdrop of the future inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, Polymarket users were asked to place bets on the event “Who will Joe Biden pardon?” Among the contenders are Sam Bankman-Fried and Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht.

At the time of publication, Polymarket users had bet more than $5 million on the pardon of Bankman-Fried (4%) and only $1.2 million on the pardon of Ulbricht (2%). Some users wrote in the comments that Joe Biden, with a high degree of probability, “doesn’t know who they are.”

Previously, US President-elect Donald Trump promised to pardon Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht upon taking office, as well as to make the US an international crypto hub.
