Pool at Copacabana Palace gets a new look in celebration of the hotel’s 100th anniversary

The emblematic pool area of ​​the Copacabana Palace underwent a decorative transformation and was reopened last Tuesday (1st) . The new decor features an exclusive print of tropical foliage and is in line with the European summer trend, bearing in mind the concept of instagrammable pools.

The architect’s project Ivan Rezende makes use of wooden umbrellas with striped fabric, lining in tropical prints and embroidered cushions in shades of green and orange, mixing nostalgic and contemporary touches.

The fabrics were even chosen from materials that are resistant to the tropical climate.

The parasols now have a more rounded and modern shape, with a wooden structure. With solid tones, the cushions are embroidered with an exclusive print and the fringes are in trimmings, a technique that guarantees elegance to the textile details.

The change in the pool area is part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of the carioca hotel opened on August 13, 1923.

With semi-Olympic size, the pool at the Copa is one of the hottest spots in the hotel. Throughout history, several celebrities passed through the place, like Mick Jagger , Carmen Miranda It is Rod Stewart .

Some stories also help in his fame: in 1991, during Princess Diana’s only visit to Brazil , the then Princess of Wales requested that the pool lights be turned off for peaceful swimming. Even so, she was clicked by the paparazzi when leaving the water in the early hours of the morning.

Already Janis Joplin the queen of rock and roll, set foot on national soil in 1970 to enjoy Rio’s carnival and, legend has it, was invited to leave the hotel pool after diving completely naked.

Today, the pool area continues as the hotel’s meeting point and also has a pool bar which operates seasonally – currently from Friday to Sunday.

By the pool, you can enjoy a classic caipirinha (R$38) alongside portions such as shrimp pastries with catupiry, leek, red onion and tangerine zest (R$85) and Hawaiian poke with shrimp or salmon (R$85). $105).
