Pope Francis had a quiet third night at the hospital, says agency

Pope Francis, who is being treated from a respiratory infection, had a quiet night, the Italian news agency Ansa said on Monday (17), citing sources near the hospital.

The pontiff, 88, has suffered from bronchitis for over a week and was admitted to the Gemelli Hospital of Rome on Friday morning (14).

The Vatican said on Saturday (15) that the Pope would remain in the hospital for the time his treatment demanded.

Francisco should not be discharged before the middle of the week, according to the ANSA

The Pope could not say his regular prayer to the pilgrims in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday (16), nor lead a special mass for artists to mark the Jubilee Year of the Catholic Church.

He also canceled a visit to Cinecitta movie studios in Rome, scheduled for this Monday (17).

“Thanks for the affection, prayer and the proximity with which they accompany me these days,” wrote the pontiff on social network on Sunday.
