Today, Pope Francis again referred to the situation in Ukraine and the need for humanitarian initiatives.
“I address a new appeal with the aim of implementing humanitarian corridors for those who are trapped in the steelworks of Mariupol.”
The pope called on all the faithful to pray every day and stressed that he was constantly thinking of Mariupol, “this city which was bombed and destroyed, in a barbaric way.”
“I am suffering and crying, thinking of the people of Ukraine. I am thinking, in particular, of the weakest, children and the elderly. There is news of children being displaced and deported,” Francis added.
The pope called, once again, “for no one to accept the logic of violence and the perverted vortex of weapons” and “to be able to follow the path of dialogue and peace.”
