THE Pope Francis, addressing the faithful on Sunday, in St. Peter’s Square, referred to the developments in the Middle East. In more detail, the pontiff underlined:
“I follow what is happening in Israel and Palestine. I express my special pain and concern, I pray and stand with the hostages, the victims and their families. I am thinking of the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. It hurts me that, in the past days, the Anglican hospital and the Greek Orthodox parish were affected. I repeat my appeal for the release of the hostages. War is always a defeat, I am also referring to Ukraine. War is a destruction of human brotherhood, stop it, brothers.”
Pope Francis added that next Friday, October 27, for the Catholic Church will be a day of fasting, penance and prayer, in favor of peace.
At 6 pm, in Saint Peter’s, a prayer will be held, which will also be an appeal for peace throughout the world.
