Pope Francis received this Friday (3), at the Vatican, the Brazilian Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira. The member of Lula's cabinet presented to the pontiff the latest initiatives implemented in Brazil and plans for a “fair and inclusive energy transition”, according to the official press of the Holy See. The public policies will be presented at COP30 in Belém and at the G20 summit.

According to the minister, “these are policies that have guaranteed the country leadership in the global energy transition in both the electrical and biofuel sectors, fundamental to reducing carbon dioxide emissions”, according to the official Vatican press.

The government's expectation is to serve 500,000 families by the end of 2026. The head of the Catholic Church demonstrated “enthusiasm” with the idea.

The minister, born in Minas Gerais, presented Francisco with t-shirts, one from Atlético Mineiro and another from the “Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty”, as well as a coffee from Minas Gerais and a work by Aleijadinho, which depicts churches in Ouro Preto.
