Pope Leo ID had a telephone conversation with the Palestinian President

Pope Leo ID today received a phone call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, four days after the deadly Israeli blow to a Roman Catholic Temple in Gaza, according to the Vatican. During their telephone conference, the first to be made public after the election of the American Pope on May 8, the latter “reiterated his call for full respect for international humanitarian law, underlining the obligation to protect civilians and sacred places and the sanctuary”.
