Pope Leo XIV Peruvian Nationality Document is disclosed; look

Following the election of Pope Leo XIV, this Thursday (8), the government of Dina Boluarte released the document that officialized the naturalization of the religious as Peruvian, in 2015.

“During your stay in our country, [o papa] He requested Peruvian nationality, obtaining the title he believes him as a Peruvian citizen on August 24, 2015, ”said the Migration Superintendence on Social Network X.

Robert Francis Prevost arrived in 1985 in Peru to act as vice-vice in the city of Chulucanas, in the northwest region of the country. In 1988 he was sent to the Peruvian province of Trujillo, where he spent 11 years.

In 1999, he returned to Chicago, in the United States, until he was appointed in 2014 as apostolic administrator of the Diocese of the Peruvian City of Chiclayo.

To be appointed bishop of this diocese, he needed Peruvian citizenship, which he requested in 2015. After granting this nationality by the Peruvian government, Prevost was appointed Bishop of Chiclayo in September 2015.

He was also vice president of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Callao.

Prevost lived in Peru until the beginning of 2023, when he was called to Rome by Pope Francis as mayor of the dicker for the bishops and president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.
