Pope Leo XIV voted in 4 elections and 3 republican primary, says record

Illinois voting records show that Pope Leo XIV is registered to vote in the New Lenox suburb in Chicago and vote regularly there.

He voted in the general elections of 2024, 2018, 2014 and 2012, according to records provided to CNN by the registry office of Will County. Illinois voters do not need to register to vote as members of a political party, but can choose the party ballot in which they want to vote during the primary elections.

PREVOST voted for republican primaries in 2016, 2014 and 2012, show the records – which also means that the new pontiff did not vote in the party’s primaries in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024, which occurred after Trump’s first victory nine years ago.

Primary is an electoral process in the United States where voters vote among candidates who compete for a party’s candidacy.

It happens typically at the state level, although some state party offices manage their own primaries.

Who is Robert Prevost, the new Pope

Robert Prevost is 69 years old and born in Chicago, Illinois. He lived as a missionary in Peru from 2014 to 2023, where he spent most of his time in the city of Trujillo and was later appointed Bishop of Chiclayo. The Pope has been Peruvian citizenship since 2015.

Before becoming the ultimate church leader, Predost said in an interview with Vatican News that he still considers himself a missionary. “My vocation, like every Christian, is being a missionary, proclaiming the gospel wherever it is.”

After the missionary experience in South America, Prevost led a Vatican office for episcopal nominations.
