The new leader of the Catholic Church was elected on Thursday (8), in the Vatican, a few months after the premiere of the film “Conclave” which addresses the same theme. And not even Pope Leo XIV newly elected for the position, he fled the fever, as his brother revealed that he watched the feature.
In an interview with NBC Chicago, John Prevost revealed that his brother watched the Oscar -winning movie before becoming the new Pope. There, he said he talked to his brother on the phone hours before entering the conclave in real life.
“I said, ‘Well, are you ready for it? Did you watch the movie Conclave to know how to behave?’ He told the conversation.” He had just watched, so he knew how to behave, “he says.
During the chat, Prevost also said the brothers talk often and that he tries to help his brother “laugh at something, because now that is an incredible responsibility.”
In the film’s plot, Cardinal Lawrence brings together a group of priests to elect the Pope’s successor. Surrounded by leaders around the world in the Vatican corridors, he discovers deep secrets that can shake the foundation of the Church itself.
The production is starring Ralph Fiennes (“The Schindler list”), Stanley Tucci (“The Devil wears Prada”), John Lithgow (“The Crown”), Isabella Rossellini (“Blue velvet”) and more. See what is real in the movie that shows the Pope’s election.
