THE serial killer of Alagoas 42-year-old Albino Santos de Lima, former penitentiary agent, is being tried for doubly qualified homicide and attempted murder.
The trial takes place this Friday (11), at the Judge Jairon Lima Fernandes Forum, located in the Barro Duro neighborhood of Maceió (AL). Albino is accused of committing 18 murders and two attempted murder in the capital of Alagoas.
The jury is the crime that took place on June 21, 2024, in the Ponta Grossa neighborhood, in the city’s suburb. According to the complaint of the Public Prosecution Service of Alagoas (MP-AL), at the time, the accused would have invaded a woman’s house and asked her boyfriend, Emerson Wagner da Silva. As he left the scene, Albino realized that he was being followed and shot Emerson and his friend. Emerson was hit, his friend managed to escape.

In all, 18 deaths are attributed to the former penitentiary agent, of which He would have confessed 16 . The crimes would have occurred between 2019 and 2024. In testimony, the defendant even stated that he committed one of the murders while being “possessed” and under orders of “Archangel Miguel”, which, according to him, also advised him to visit cemeteries and photograph the tombs of the victims.
The defense maintains that Albino It has no mental conditions to answer for the crimes. “I use the thesis of mental insanity. It is understood that Albino is completely crazy. The expectation is that justice recognizes the inimputability, because he suffers from mental insanity,” said Geoberto de Luna, the defendant’s lawyer.
The Public Prosecution Service, based on a psychiatric report authorized by justice and other evidence attached to the process, states that the accused has sanity and must be convicted. The defense disputes the report. “A simple exam was done in Albino, it is not a definitive report. During the jury, I will also question this report, because initially he would undergo a team of psychiatrists to evaluate his sanity,” explained Luna.
Albino has been in prison since September last year. If convicted, penalties can reach 30 years for murder and 20 years for the attempt, totaling up to 50 years in prison. The trial is expected to be completed later this Friday (11).
