Since he was little, Sergio already knew what he would do for the rest of his life.: to draw. At the age of 11, he won a contest in the newspaper “Diário de Pernambuco” and had his first authorial illustration published along with great successes.
“At 11 years old I was already being published in the children’s supplement of the Diário de Pernambuco along with ‘Flash Gordon’, with ‘Disney’, ‘Principe Valente’ — all the comic strips that we are used to since childhood”, he told in interview with CNN Popverso.
Despite his imagination, the Brazilian lacked technique. When he moved to the United States, he was accepted into one of the most coveted schools for illustrators, the Joe Kubert School of Cartoons and Graphic Artsin Dover, New Jersey.
From then on, he worked for DC and Marvel and illustrated great heroes. In March of this year, Sergio was the only Brazilian representative on the list made by Bookscan of best-selling authors in the United States for a single publication.
The work “Bible in Action” is nothing new. It had already been published before, in 2010, and brought together 700 pages that tell the stories from Genesis to the Apocalypse. In 2020, publisher David C. Cook decided to revitalize the comic and include almost 100 pages of unpublished material.

Sergio Cariello was responsible for illustrating the work, which sold 102,000 copies of this extended version last year.
