By George Lampiris

A three-year course in the world and in the Greek market is currently deleting the purely electric model of Porsche, the Taycan.

As reported to Capital.gr by Diana Dumitru, Press Relations Manager of Porsche Central and Eastern Europe, in Greece the purely electric models of the Taycan series, currently reflect 25% of the total sales of the German company in our country. She even points out that there is an even greater field of development for electric cars in Greece. “Taycan is the forerunner for Porsche at the moment in the field of electric propulsion and will be followed by the purely electric Macan, which the company has announced will be on the market in 2023.” Globally, more than 300,000 Porsche cars were sold in 2021, with at least 41,000 of them being Taycan, which means that 14% of total sales volume came from this particular car line.

The five new versions of Taycan Sport Turismo

Porsche’s new all-electric model, Taycan Sport Turismo, is currently taking its first steps in the market, which is available in five versions:

60 Porsches were sold in Greece in the first five months of 2022

According to Porsche executives, the average delivery time of these models currently ranges from 6 to 9 months, while in Greece the arrival of the first models in the near future. In Greece, the latest available data for May 2022 show that 9 Porsches were registered, while a total of 60 cars of the brand have been registered in the first five months of this year. The month with the most Porsche registrations in Greece was February with 18 cars, followed by March with 17. We remind that in 2021 the total number of Porsche cars sold in Greece was 107 (106 in the comparable 2019 under normal market conditions).

Charger installation program for electric cars

Diana Dumitru refers to the fact that a significant challenge for the company is the creation of charging infrastructure in Greece, with Porsche developing in our country the Destination Charging program, which involves partnerships with hotels, golf clubs or restaurants for charging AC in various parts of Greece. The purpose of this move is according to her, to be able to charge every driver and car owner of the company his vehicle, noting that in this case no quick chargers are required, as each owner of a car can charge with relative time comfort to specific destinations.

In addition, Porsche has started implementing the home charging program, which according to it concerns the provision of equipment with an installation box in residential parking lots (wallboxes), where charging also takes place at night and therefore in this case is not it is necessary to install quick chargers.

“What we are trying to develop is the ability of Porsche car owners to charge at home, on vacation, in the office, since, among other things, the models provide autonomy capable of meeting one ‘s driving needs throughout “Finally, another big bet for Porsche is educating the public about electric cars and their wider operation.”
