Nell’dose horribilis, Porsche has withstood the pandemic and for 2021 decides to accelerate the development of electric mobility and four-wheel sustainability. There are two relevant innovations. It starts with the launch of the entry version of the Taycan electric range which promises high performance at lower prices. We continue with the agreement with Enel X for the construction of 20 charging stations ultrafast in Q8 service areas. All this by the end of the year.
The new rear-wheel drive Taycan
The new electric from Stuttgart joins the Taycan Turbo S, the Taycan Turbo and the Taycan 4S.
20,000 units have already been sold. Unlike the other three sisters, she has the rear-wheel drive only and can be purchased with two different battery packs. The starting point is the Performance Battery standard, with a capacity of 79.2 kWh and a WLTP range that can reach 431 km. This version delivers up to 300 kW (408 hp). An engine that ensures acceleration from 100 km / h in 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 230 km / h. Its maximum charge capacity in direct current (DC) reaches up to 225 kW.
Alternatively, the Performance Battery Plus from 93.4 kWh and a range of 484 km. The power increases to 350 kW (476 hp). The acceleration and maximum speed do not change, while the DC charging capacity reaches 270 kW. This means that the balusters ultrafast of direct current the new Taycan charges from 5 to 80% of capacity in 22.5 minutes. It only takes five minutes to build up the energy needed to drive another 100 kilometers. The first rear-wheel drive Taycan will arrive in dealerships from mid-March 2021. The selling price in Germany starts at 83,520 euros, including VAT and specific equipment.
The new technological equipment
The new Taycan includes the innovations introduced in the other versions with the new Model Year. Among these, the Plug & Charge function that allows you to top-up and the related payments without the need for cards or one app. In practice, as soon as the charging cable is connected, the Taycan establishes an encrypted communication with the charging station compatible with the Plug & Charge system. The top-up process starts automatically and payments are also processed automatically.
Among the optional equipment, to be adopted with your eyes closed, there is the on-board charger with charging capacity up to 22 kW. Fundamental to halve charging times in public AC columns. Also interesting are the adaptive air suspension with Smartlift function. This allows the new Taycan to be programmed to automatically increase ground clearance when passing through some recurring spots such as bumps or garage driveways. While traveling on the motorway, on the other hand, adjust the height of the car to obtain the best possible compromise between efficiency and driving comfort.
Also active Functions on demand. These are additional functions that can be purchased, even for a limited time, after the delivery of the vehicle and after the initial configuration. Activation is online. Among the functions that can be activated remotely the Porsche Intelligent Range Manager. This function calculates an alternative route to reach the destination faster. It acts on speed, air conditioning and route optimization.

Electric columns in Q8 petrol stations
The interesting news for those suffering from autonomy anxiety is the agreement between Porsche, Q8 and Enel X which provides for the construction of 20 ultrafast charging stations in the Q8 service areas by the end of 2021. “Thanks to this collaboration”, declares Pietro Innocenti, CEO of Porsche Italy, «we are able to offer our customers a complete charging solution package, which makes it even easier to embrace zero-emission mobility. “
Each station will have four columns of 300 kW which will allow you to fill up with energy in a few minutes. Once active, the stations ultrafast of the project will be integrated into the Porsche mobility ecosystem and visible on the Enel X JuicePass app. Currently, there are over 12 thousand recharging points of the company in Italy. The agreement also provides that one of the charging connectors and relative parking of each activated station will be reserved for Porsche customers only.
The first charging station to be inaugurated will be at theQ8 rest area in Paderno Dugnano (ME). She will be followed by other service stations present on important junctions for daily traffic and seasonal tourism. These include Carate Brianza (MB), Erbusco (BS), Padua, Perugia, Rome, Naples, Polignano a Mare (BA), Brindisi, Porto Rotondo (OT). This new network will add to the ultra-fast charging infrastructure at i 30 Italian Porsche Centers and charging facilities in prestigious destinations, such as restaurants and hotels normally frequented by Porsche customers.
