After the floods that hit Rio Grande do Sul since the end of April, Porto Alegre Bus Station resumes its services this Friday (7) . To resume activities, the city hall of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul had to release access to the station, having to remove the structure of the temporary humanitarian corridor.
Access to the terminal is via the taxi gantry entrance, at Largo Vespasiano Veppo, while boarding and disembarking operations will be carried out from boxes 55 to 72 of the intercity arrivals area. For security reasons, other access points will remain closed.
The measure that established the return of the terminal’s activities was taken at a meeting led by vice-governor Gabriel Souza and the Secretary of Logistics and Transport, Juvir Costella, with representatives from Veppo, the company that manages the bus station, and the Rio-Grandense Association of Intermunicipal Transport, on Tuesday (4).
According to the state government, the return of activities will take place with 52 intercity lines, from 15 companies. Regarding interstate trips, these will leave from the Osório Bus Station, on the North Coast.
Furthermore, with the resumption of the Bus Station, the Antônio de Carvalho Terminal, in the Agronomia neighborhood, will be deactivated.
It is worth noting that, initially, the terminal’s stores will be closed, as the electricity supply has not been fully restored.
