The Municipal Health Secretariat confirmed, this Friday (25), the Third Death by Dengue in Porto Alegre This year. According to the folder, the victim was a 26 -year -old woman who had comorbidities.
The first symptoms would have appeared in late March. On April 5, the woman was transferred to ICU due to bronchopneumonia and malignant neuroleptic syndrome. Her death occurred on April 13.
In addition to this case, Porto Alegre had already recorded the death of two other women by dengue complications, one of 59 and one 72, both with comorbidities. The city reported that four suspicious deaths continue to investigate.
The state capital records 5,259 cases of dengue since the beginning of the year. The city identified three of the four dengue virus serotypes: Denv1, Denv2 and Denv3. The simultaneous presence of multiple serotypes increases the risk of severe cases and reinforces the need for extra attention to prevention and care for symptoms.
Porto Alegre has been in a public health emergency situation since April 17.
Five stalls were made available by the Army to attend dengue symptoms. They should start operating this Monday (28) and are next to the Santa Fe, Camaquã, model, May and Timbaúva stations. The points will act as hydration stations, expanding the care. The opening hours of the tents will be the same as the health facilities.
In addition, a campaign hospital to care for patients with symptoms of dengue was set up last week with the Moacyr Scliar Emergency Unit. The structure is provided by the Ministry of Health and operates 24 hours.
Currently, dengue vaccination in Porto Alegre is suspended due to lack of doses, according to the city.
The guidance is for people with light symptoms – such as fever, headache and body pain – seek care at the reference health unit.
In cases with warning signs, such as persistent vomiting, intense abdominal pain, dizziness, bleeding, difficulty eating or signs of dehydration, the ideal is to seek immediate care in a UPA or emergency care.
