Porto Alegre starts vaccinating children against Covid-19 this Wednesday (19)

The city of Porto Alegre begins the immunization of children against Covid-19 this Wednesday (19). Initially, children aged between 10 and 11 with comorbidity or permanent disability, and indigenous people and quilombolas aged between 5 and 11 will be covered.

According to the city hall, vaccination will take place in seven health units, from 8 am to 5 pm: Chácara da Fumaça, IAPI Family Clinic, José Mauro Ceratti Lopes Family Clinic, Moab Caldas, Nova Brasília, Santa Marta and Santo Alfredo.

Parents or guardians must present documentation that proves their health condition. In case of absence, immunization may be authorized by means of a written consent form.

“Immunization for the population over 12 years of age will be maintained in 42 locations: Shopping João Pessoa and 41 health units – seven of them with service until 9 pm (Belém Novo, Director Pestana, Morro Santana, Primeiro de Maio, Ramos, São Carlos and Sadness)”, informed the city of Porto Alegre.

Brazil has already received two batches of the immunizer from Pfizer — the only one authorized in Brazil to be applied in the group from 5 to 11 years old — the first being last Thursday (13) and the second on Sunday (16).

Vaccination has already started

Vaccination campaigns across the country began effective last Saturday (15), in nine capitals: Florianópolis, Belo Horizonte, Campo Grande, Salvador, São Luís, Fortaleza, Aracaju, Vitória and Recife.

On Sunday (16), it was the turn of Brasília and João Pessoa to start immunizing the group.

On Tuesday (18), the application of vaccines in children began in Natal, Teresina and Boa Vista.
