Porto Alegre suspends vaccination against dengue due to lack of doses

Vaccination against dengue in Porto Alegre was suspended this Wednesday (23) for lack of new doses . According to the city, the interruption occurs due to the absence of transfers of the Ministry of Health, responsible for the acquisition and distribution of the vaccine to states and municipalities.

To date, the Municipal Health Secretariat says that No forecast for the arrival of new lots.

Immunization was performed in children and adolescents from 10 to 14 years . According to the folder, 20,066 children and adolescents of this age group received the first dose, which corresponds to 27.5% of the target audience.

The second dose, necessary to ensure complete protection, was applied to 6,695 young people, according to the city. This is equivalent to 9% of 72,898 residents of this age group in the state capital.

Porto Alegre decreed emergency situation on Thursday (17) . To date, the municipality records more than 4,600 confirmed cases of dengue. Six deaths were confirmed by dengue in the state – two in Porto Alegre.

A campaign hospital to serve patients with symptoms of dengue was set up last week with the Moacyr Scliar Emergency Unit in the North Zone. The structure is provided by the Ministry of Health and operates 24 hours.
