Portugal blocks mention of deportation of Crimean Tatars in EU statement – media

Portugal blocked the mention of the 77th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in the EU statement on the occupied Crimea. Radio Liberty correspondent Rikard Jozvyak wrote about this on Twitter.

 

The journalist stressed that the EU’s statement on Crimea will be made in the OSCE. At the same time, earlier in the relevant statements there was always a mention of the tragic events of 1944.

“Yesterday Portugal blocked the mention of the 77th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in the EU’s statement on Crimea to be made by the EU to the OSCE. Previous statements have always referred to the events of May 18-20, 1944,” Josvyak wrote.
