Portuguese Language Museum will remain free on weekends until December

THE Museum of the Portuguese Language located at Estação da Luz, announced that it will continue offering free admission on weekends until December 31, 2024. The initiative began in June.

The information was released by the museum itself on its official website.

Through audiovisual, playful and interactive experiences, the main exhibition presents the diversity of the language spoken both in the country and in other parts of the world, such as Angola and Mozambique.

Curated by musician and philosopher Tigana Santana there is also a temporary exhibition “African languages ​​that make Brazil” until January 31, 2025. Through works by contemporary artists and videos, the exhibition highlights the influence of African languages, such as Yoruba and Efe-fon, on the country’s Portuguese.

Visitors can also enjoy the “Crossword” experience, which addresses the origin of Portuguese words and our vocabulary, such as jururu and omelet .

The institution offers other activities in addition to the museum, such as the Book Exchange Fair, the Literary Chat, the Africanize Sarau and the Conexões Platform, which takes place on Saturdays, free of charge.

On Sundays, there is the Sunday at the Museum project, which offers artistic presentations and games. Free of charge, visits to the main exhibition and the historic building from Luz Station also takes place on weekends.

You tickets cost R$24 and R$12 on other days of the week . Children, teachers and employees of public schools up to the age of seven do not pay admission. On Mondays, the institution is closed.
