Position of bodies indicates that Voepass passengers were warned of the crash, says expert

The Superintendent of the Scientific Technical Police of the State of São Paulo stated, in a press conference on the morning of this Thursday (15), that the position in which the victims’ bodies were found demonstrates that the passengers must have been alerted by the cockpit about an imminent fall.

According to Claudinei Salomão, this possibility – which should only be confirmed by the preliminary report that will be issued by Cenipa – arises from the fact that most of the bodies were found hugging their legs, with their heads down.

This position is called “brace”, when passengers place their head between their knees and hug their legs in order to reduce the impact of a possible forced “landing”.

“The position in which most of the bodies were found greatly favored the forensic work, as the hands were intact. This made it possible to perform fingerprint identification, identifying the victims through their fingerprints,” said Salomão. The identification of the passengers and crew was completed this Wednesday (14).

The tendency is that the aircraft’s cockpit, through co-pilot Humberto de Campos Alencar e Silva and pilot Danilo Santos Romano, warned passengers about the aircraft’s tendency to fall.

Furthermore, the Scientific Police of the State of São Paulo guarantees that it is very likely that none of the 62 victims faced any type of suffering.

“A fall of four thousand meters in less than two minutes causes the human body to undergo such serious movements that it leads to fainting. Everyone died in the crash, due to the numerous traumas suffered, but the tendency is that everyone would have already fainted,” said the superintendent.
