Positive response from industry and market to electricity measures

Of Thanks to Floudopoulos

Yesterday’s government announcements about support measures against energy precision were welcomed by industry and the market.

This was at least evident from the joint announcement of 5 industrial associations, which stressed that the measures are in the right direction and described the government and the Ministry of Energy as “stable and reliable interlocutors”.

It is worth noting that the 5 associations that sign the announcement (Association of Businesses and Industries of Peloponnese and Western Greece, Association of Industries of Attica-Piraeus, Association of Industries of Thessaly and Central Greece, Association of Industries of Central Greece recently) calling on the government to take action on energy in a joint statement, even referring to a sustainability problem that exists for a large number of companies.

According to information, the measure that provoked the positive reaction of the 5 industrial associations is nothing more than doubling the unit price of the subsidy for professional consumers from 65 euros / MWh in March to 130 euros / MWh in April.

This is an increase, which, given the difficulties and budgetary constraints, is considered to be highly satisfactory as it covers almost all of the increase recorded for the month of April in the industrial tariffs, which mainly concern the Middle Voltage industries.

To this increase in the subsidy, another measure should be added that also satisfies the market and concerns the very small and medium enterprises with power supply up to 25KVA and all the bakeries. An additional subsidy of 100 euros / MWh is given to this category, which increases the total subsidy to 230 euros / MWh.

It is noted that for these companies a retroactive subsidy is given for the total electricity consumption for the months of January, February and March, which leads to a retrospective absorption of 80% of the adjustment clause.

These measures concern professionals, businesses and industries in total for the month of April amount to 313 million euros, when the corresponding amount given in March was 132 million euros.

In each case, they have seized it, despite obstacles we can scarcely imagine. ”
