Crews have restored power and cellular connectivity in Enerhodar, the town near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant that is currently under Russian control, a senior official said on Sunday.
“Water supplies will be restored in the near future,” wrote Rogov, a pro-Russian leader in the Zaporizhzhia regional government, in a cable on Sunday.
Rogov also said that the Ukrainians “concentrate a significant number of militants towards Zaporizhzhia” and that the risk of invading the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant “remains high”.
Russian and Ukrainian officials blame each other for the recent bombing of Enerhodar.
According to Ukraine’s elected mayor Dmytro Orlov, the constant Russian bombings “prevent rapid emergency and restoration work”.
Orlov said that “Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly tried to deliver humanitarian supplies with food, hygiene products and so on to the city”, adding that Ukraine is “ready to organize the immediate delivery and distribution of drinking water in Enerhodar”, but that Russian forces do not let humanitarian aid through.
