The School of Fine Arts of Charles University Praguewhere a student killed 14 people this month, announced today that it will remain closed until at least the end of January.
The officials of the school pointed out that they will not oblige the students to take the exam at the end of the winter semester, which ends on January 12, which will allow them to postpone filing their papers.
A 24-year-old student opened fire inside the school on December 21, killing 14 people, before killing himself. Another 24 people were injured in the attack.
“All evaluations (of students) will be conducted on a voluntary basis and their format could be modified depending on the circumstances,” according to a press release posted on the school's website and relayed by the Athens News Agency.
“We assure you that even if you do not receive grades for the fall semester, you will be able to continue your studies with confidence and complete your program successfully in the future”is added to the text.
Just before Christmas, the attack rocked the country of 10.8 million people, a member of the European Union and NATO, where incidents of this kind are extremely rare.
According to police, the attacker also killed two people he had chosen at random in the suburbs of Prague on December 15, a father and his two-month-old baby girl.
On the day of the attack, the killer first killed his father, in the house where they lived together. The motives of the perpetrator have not yet been clarified.
