Prayer campaign for Conclave will start on Wednesday, May 7

The National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) announced a prayer campaign for the conclave that will start on Wednesday (7). The initiative “Conclave: Prayer Time” invites faithful from all over the country to join in prayer for the cardinals who will choose the new Pope.

According to the institution, the current of prayer reinforces the importance of the moment for the Church and proposes that communities, parishes and families participate with prayer for the period of vagar headquarters.

“We plead, O God, with humility: May your immense piety grant to the sacrosante Roman church a pontiff; that by his zeal for us, it may be pleasing to you, may be assiduous in the government of the Church for the glory and reverence of your name. By our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for all centuries of the centuries.

The importance and responsibility of choosing the new world leader of the Catholic Church was reinforced at Cardinal Giovanni Re. “Let us pray that God gives the Church a Pope who knows how to better awaken the conscience of all and the moral and spiritual energies of today’s society, characterized by great technological progress, but tends to forget God,” Re said during the sermon.

The ceremony was held on the morning of Wednesday (7), and is also known by the faithful as “Pro Eligendo Romano Pontifice”.
