Four years after introducing Wakanda to the public, Marvel will reveal the kingdom’s new hero in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, on November 10, when the long-awaited feature film premieres. Ticket pre-sales online and at the box office start this Thursday (20).
Like this “Black Panther” (2018), the film’s sequel is directed by Ryan Coogler (“Creed: Born to Fight” and “Fruitvale Station: The Last Stand”) and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore.
In the plot, Queen Ramonda, warriors Shuri and Okoye, the leader of the M’Baku tribe and Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from the world powers that intervene after the death of King T’Challa. As the people of Wakanda struggle to embark on a new chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of Nakia and Everett Ross to forge a new path for the kingdom.
According to director Ryan Coogler, in a press release, Shuri has a hard time embracing the new chapter of Wakanda. “Ramonda realizes it’s been a year since T’Challa’s death and Shuri is still healing, in an unhealthy way,” he says.
“We were really excited to explore the relationship between Ramonda and Shuri. The first movie has a lot of father-son dynamics, both the protagonist and the antagonist had to deal with the change after their father passed away. This movie became a story about motherhood. Mothers often have to continue to be mothers in difficult situations,” says Coogler.
Namor is one of the new characters in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ” and begins his career in the Marvel universe as the antagonist of the new film. In the comics, he clashes with the African nation for seeing his kingdom, Talocan, be threatened. In addition, Namor is one of the first mutants of the new phase of the MCU.
“They take a retreat away from the city and technology to run out of distractions and perform what is essentially a mourning ritual. That’s when Namor appears”, reveals the director.
In addition to lots of action, trailers and behind-the-scenes videos show that the new film will pay homage to Chadwick Boseman, the hero of “Black Panther” (2018), which also appears in “Captain America: Civil War” (2016), “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019). The actor, who passed away at age 43 in August 2020 from colon cancer, is seen in Wakanda wall art in early scenes of the new production.
In the plot, the character played by Boseman, King T’Challa, also died and it remains now to find out who will be the new Black Panther.
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” has a star-studded cast, such as: Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke (M’Baku), Florence Kasumba, Angela Bassett, and Martin Freeman who participated in “Black Panther” (2018). In addition to new names such as Dominique Thorne , Michaela Coel (Aneka), Mabel Cadena, Alex Livinalli and Tenoch Huerta arriving for the new production from Marvel.
