Over the next 10 years, the share of pre-salt oil in Brazil’s total production will rise from the current 73% to 80%, according to the study notebook of the Ten Year Energy Plan 2032 (PDE 2032) released this Monday (10). ), by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME).
The forecast volume for the region rose by 100 thousand barrels per day compared to the previous PDE, to 4 million barrels per day.
In 2032, total oil production will reach 4.9 million barrels a day, down from the 5.2 million b/d forecast for 2031. For 2022, the total production projection is down from 3.4 million b/d. /d in PDE 2031 to 3 million b/d in PDE 2032. Peak production will be in 2029, when oil production is expected to reach 5.4 million b/d.
According to the study, which together with other notebooks will build the PDE 2032, “fossil fuels play an important role in the energy matrix planned for the decade”. “However, there is a search for a competitive and ‘decarbonised’ barrel”, highlighted the document.
The forecast of gross production of natural gas for the decade of the PDE 2032 is, on average, 13% higher than the projection presented in the PDE 2031, according to the calculation before discounts for own consumption, injection, flaring and losses. According to the PDE 2032, the gross production of natural gas will be 323 million cubic meters per day (m3/d) at the end of the plan, against the forecast of 269 million m3/d a year earlier.
The production of the Búzios field was reviewed, which, according to its new Development Plan (2021), will adopt production units of greater capacity.
The fields of Wahoo, Budião, Budião Noroeste, Budião Sudeste, Palombeta, Cavala, Agulhinha and Agulhinha Oeste had their commerciality declared and became part of the category of total reserve, explained the study.
Natural gas produced in the pre-salt region also had a high share of the country’s total production, from 69% to 78% from one plan to another. According to the document, gross production will increase from 193 million m3/d in 2031 to 252 million m3/d in 2032.
The net production of pre-salt natural gas (after discounts for own consumption, injection, flaring and losses) went from 137 million m3/d in 2031 to 134 million m3/d in 2032, a drop of 2.2 %.
