Pregnancy: in Italy one out of 5 women does not experience it serenely

Pregnancy: a delicate and special moment in a woman’s life which, however, for many, ends up being today source of concern.

This is what emerged from a recent research byUniSalute Health Observatoryconducted together with the research institute Nomisma. The survey, carried out on a sample of 1,200 women, in fact wanted to investigate how Italian women face pregnancyshedding light on what specifically theirs are concerns and if there are important aspects which are at risk of being overlooked.

Among the most significant data that emerged from the research is that according to which one in five women, about 22%, does not live the pregnancy serenelyand this above all for sanitary reasonsfound in 48% of cases and, immediately after, cheap (32%).

However, the research also shows how most women (77%) do not experiment particular complications during pregnancy but which, regardless of this, many suffer from difficulty sleeping: one in three women (32%) complains of a worse sleep qualitydefined scarce (28%) or even bad (4%).

Not only that, another interesting fact is the preference found to be followed by a private specialist doctora choice that unites more than one in two women (52%). In fact, only one out of four turns to a public sector physician (25%), and even fewer, only about one in five, at a local consultancy (22%).

The preparatory courses in the hospital

However, the situation is reversed choice of the prepared course and accompaniment to the birth: in this case the 72% of women prefer to take a course in a public facility compared to a prepared course created by private individuals, chosen by only 17% of the sample. And the same goes for the birthplace: the survey has in fact highlighted how for the majority of women, precisely the89% the choice falls onpublic hospital.

Checks and precautions during pregnancy: some are neglected

The aim of the survey was also to evaluate whether some check-ups are neglected. According to what emerged, among the neglected routine checks there are theultrasound with nuchal translucency and the bi-test/tri-testperformed by only 61% and 51% of women, respectively.

Also regarding the specific precautions to be respected during the course of the pregnancy, the survey brought to light some critical issues. As for thePower supplyfor example, only 51% stick to a controlled dietwhether prescribed by the dietician, gynecologist or general practitioner, while four out of ten women (40%) say they do not follow any specific diet. Not only that, 7% of women claim to rely only on online advice and 2% on suggestions from friends and relatives.

And what about the recommended exercise during pregnancy? Also in this case the survey revealed that about one in four women, the 24%does not perform any kind of activities.

Instead, it is better from the point of view of abstention from alcohol and smoking: the percentage of women who declare they have smoked or drank at least sometimes during gestation it is in fact limited, respectively 11% and 12%.

What happens after childbirth?

UniSalute And Nomisma finally, they also investigated some health choices relating to the 12 months immediately following the birth.

In the first year of life, the majority (54%) carry or intend to carry the child at the pediatrician once a month: in 29% of cases preferring to also or exclusively address a private pediatrician. In addition to the general pediatric visit, i more checks carried out in the first 12 months they are hip ultrasound (71%), auxological examination (53%) and Boel test (46%).
