“Dune: The Prophecy” prelude to the films directed by Dennis Villeneuve , received its first trailer this Wednesday (15). The production will be a series adapted by the streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max) in partnership with the company Legendary.
Confirmed since 2019, the series will take place 10 thousand years before Paul Artreides protagonist of the original story of “Dune”, is born and will explore the universe of the Bene Gesserit, a fictional supernatural group of women, before they were even called that way.
The series' cast consists of Emily Watson, Jessica Barden, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Johdi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Tabu, Chris Mason and Shalom Brune-Franklin.
The premiere is scheduled for later this year, but there is still no set date at the moment.
The book “Dune”, written by Frank Herbert, has already been adapted into two films in theaters. The first, named after the classic work, was released in 2021. The second, “Dune: Part 2”, hit the big screen at the beginning of this year.
Everything indicates that “Dune 3” could happen. Although the studio responsible for the franchise has not yet confirmed it, director Denis Villeneuve has already stated his desire to make a trilogy. In an interview with the British magazine “Empire”, he said that the script for Part 3 has already started to be written.
