QYSEA, KDDI and PRODRONE have jointly developed the world’s first commercial drone that can fly in the air and operate underwater. The product is called Sea-Air Integrated Drone.
As a rule, an underwater unmanned vehicle is launched from a suitable section of the coastline or from a ship. The Sea-Air Integrated Drone is making a difference. It combines an aerial drone developed by PRODRONE and KDDI and an industrial grade underwater drone FIFISH PRO V6 PLUS ROV manufactured by QYSEA. Long distance KDDI technology allows the operator to send the device to a given location in the ocean. There he splashes down and launches a cable-connected underwater drone.

The Sea-Air Integrated Drone can be used, for example, to inspect the underwater part of an offshore wind farm. Other potential applications include wildlife photography or checking the condition of a floating craft’s hull.
The development took six years. Specifications, including range and weight, as well as the price and start date of sales are not named.
