Realme has officially unveiled the Realme 8 and 8 Pro smartphones, which, unfortunately, are not far from their predecessors. If we compare the characteristics of new products with smartphones of the seventh and even sixth series, then they will have a lot in common, and in some moments Realme 8 and 8 Pro are inferior to last year’s devices. But it was not without pleasant updates – for the first time in the manufacturer’s line of smartphones, a device with a 108 megapixel camera appeared.
Realme 8
The key feature of the basic version is the AMOLED display. On the one hand, this is a pleasant update (especially since it is the same as in the Pro version), but on the other hand, it is disappointing, because instead of an IPS screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, the smartphone received a 60 Hz matrix. The hardware base of the novelty is the same MediaTek Helio G95 as in the Realme 7, but the manufacturer claims to improve the cooling of the smartphone by 14% thanks to the use of copper instead of carbon fiber. The battery capacity has not changed, as well as the complete 30W charger. Even the camera has remained the same, that is, it is still impossible to shoot 4K video, this is the privilege of the Pro version.

It is worth noting that now the Realme 8 in all configurations comes with 128 GB of storage, RAM can be 4, 6 or 8 GB. The move to AMOLED allowed the company to move the fingerprint scanner from the side under the screen. This is where all the changes end.

Realme 8 Pro
In the case of the Realme 8 Pro, it is also impossible to avoid comparison with its predecessor, since there are very few significant changes, and in some ways they are not in favor of the new product. The most obvious upgrade is the main camera with a 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor. Apparently, Realme is very fond of the Snapdragon 720G single-chip system, otherwise it is difficult to explain the fact that it is already used in the third generation of the company’s smartphones. But this has its advantages, as the manufacturer has spent a lot of time optimizing its user interface specifically for this chipset. Along with the recently announced C25 smartphone, the 8 and 8 Pro are the first devices to come with Realme UI 2.0 out of the box outside of China.

The only reason to upgrade to the Realme 8 Pro is the 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor with 9-in-1 pixel binning support (12MP final image resolution) and 3x zoom. The manufacturer announced an updated Super Nightscape mode, there is also Ultra Nightscape Video and Starry Mode for those who like to photograph the starry sky. The smartphone can take 240 frames (every 15 seconds) and combine them into an 8 second video. The resolution of the front camera has decreased and is now 16 megapixels instead of 32 megapixels in the Realme 7 Pro.

Despite support for 65W fast charging, the manufacturer limited its power to 50W, so that with an identical battery capacity, Realme 8 Pro charges longer than its predecessor.
Since the Realme 8 and 8 Pro are presented in India, they will initially be sold in that country through the official website and Flipkart starting March 25th. The basic version of the smartphone will cost from 15 thousand rupees (about 206 dollars), and the Pro version – from 18 thousand rupees (about 248 dollars).
