In the midst of the global climate crisis and the year Brazil prepares to host the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP30), the Themonias collective led to the French cultural circuit a performic manifesto in defense of the forest and the Amazonian peoples.

The project “Floor of Themonias in France” Integrates the official program of Lille 3000 Parade, an event that inaugurates the French cultural calendar. In the first presentation, the procession toured the streets of the center of Lille with open car, performic wings and lush assemblies.

“The survey with assemblies was inspired by the diversity of endangered Amazonian birds, as well as in the imagination and forest culture, bringing out the importance of environmental preservation and the consequences of the exploitation of natural resources,” said Gabriela Luz, artist-researcher and art-educator.

“We want to provoke the debate on environmental preservation from the valorization of the forest peoples, their cultures and their ecosystems. To keep the forest standing, it is necessary to strengthen those who live in it,” he said.

All assemblies were idealized by the artists themselves, based on the Amazonian imaginary and the rich diversity of birds in the region.

The cast brings together names in the art scene LGBTQIAPN+ From Brazil, such as: Uhura Bqueer, Tristan Soledad, Sarita Themonia, Brigitte Liberté, Astral Flowers, Skysime, Shayra Brotero, Xirleytão, Mila Milambe, Yndjah, Cedric, Johan, Alexia Bike Ruby, Monique Lafon, Devonriver Countess and Anne Pereira.

The partnership with Cabaret Madame Arthur also foresees a cultural exchange: artists from the French cabaret should perform in Brazil in the second half of 2025, alongside the themonias, in different cities.

“We are a plural and diverse movement that is born and grows in the Paraense Amazon, but that dreams and occupies the whole world. We want to show that art made by LGBTQIAPN people+ dissidents of gender, race and class deserves space, appreciation and dignity,” concluded Gabriela.
