Bolivian President Luis Arce demanded this Wednesday (26) that General Juan José Zuniga demobilize the soldiers who took over the capital’s central square.
He stated that the country is suffering from an attempted coup.
“To the Bolivian people and the entire international community. The country today is facing an attempted coup d’état. Today the country is again facing interests for democracy in Bolivia to be ruined,” he said.
“Here we are, the national government with all its ministers, standing firm, with our vice-president, standing firm here at Casa Grande (government building) to face any attempted coup, any attempt that threatens our democracy. The Bolivian people are called today: We need the Bolivian people to organize and mobilize against the coup d’état, in favor of democracy,” he added.
“We cannot allow coup attempts to take Bolivian lives once again. We want to call on everyone to defend democracy. And here we are firmly in Casa Grande with the entire cabinet, with our social organizations”, he highlighted.
“We salute social organizations and invite them to once again show the path of democracy to the Bolivian people. Long live the Bolivian people. Long live democracy,” she concluded.
