Other arrests

Ubiratan Antonio da Cunha was arrested on July 16, 2024. He was one of the targets of Operation End of Line in Sao Paulo. The police action was investigating the connection of bus companies in the state capital with the criminal faction First Command of the Capital (CCP).

By order of justice, Cunha had been prohibited from attending the company’s headquarters and having contact with other defendants or members of the cooperative.

But on June 5, the Civil Police were sought by members of the Upbus cooperative, reporting that they were expelled by him from the company’s headquarters. After that, the prosecutor also found that that same week, Cunha would have sought the intervener who was appointed by the city to manage Upbus. “The intervener appointed by the municipality was attracted by Upbus employees under the pretext of having a coffee at a nearby establishment.

On December 20, Ubiratan was arrested again in a joint action between the São Paulo PM and the Special Action Group on the Repression of Organized Crime of São Paulo (Gaeco).

According to police, the arrest was for “the use of the Municipal Public Transportation Company Upbus Quality in Transport SA to hide and conceal the illicit origin of the product and the benefit of criminal organization crimes, drug trafficking, theft, among other correlates.”
