the president of Ecuador , Guillermo Lasso said this Saturday (25) in an exclusive interview with CNN in Spanish which revoked the state of exception, which was in force in six provinces of the country where protests against his government were registered.
“Today was a normal day, as it was yesterday Friday with all the returns to their communities from the indigenous sector, who responded to our request, and this afternoon I revoked the state of exception, so that all interested parties have peace of mind. that this is a democratic government, which, once peace is regained, revokes the state of exception”, said the president.
“If these attempts at anarchy and violence return tomorrow, we will again declare a state of exception, but we have not done so with any other purpose than to maintain the peace and tranquility of Ecuadorians,” he added.
This Saturday, Ecuador adds 12 days of national protests led by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities (Conaie).
So far, authorities report 5 deaths since the start of the demonstrations.
