The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, thanked leaders and organizations for their solidarity after the Ecuadorian police entered the Mexican embassy.
In a message published on the social network X, López Obrador said: “We appreciate the solidarity of governments, leaders and civil organizations from different countries after the invasion of the Mexican Embassy in Ecuador.”
We thank you for the solidarity of representatives, leaders and civil organizations from different countries and ours after the arrival of the Embajada de México in Ecuador.
We respect the brotherhood of this country and our nationals ask us to behave with great prudence…

“We are attentive to the diplomats of our homeland, they are not alone. They demonstrated dignity and decorum, as was clear from the attitude of Raquel Serur, our ambassador, and Roberto Canseco, head of the embassy's chancellery”, says the message.
Obrador noted that Alicia Bárcena, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, is handling the matter “in a professional and effective manner.”
Police raided the Mexican embassy in Quito on Friday night (5) to arrest the former vice president of Ecuador, Jorge Glas. The politician was twice convicted of corruption and had been at the embassy since December, when he requested asylum from the Mexican government.
