President of Ubes and girlfriend are victims of homophobia in a bakery in SP

The president of the Brazilian Union of Secondary Students (Ubes), Jade Beatriz, and her girlfriend, photographer Karla Boughoff, were victims of homophobia in a bakery in Vila Mariana, in São Paulo (SP). The case happened last Thursday (21) and was publicized by the couple on social media.

According to Jade, she was holding hands with Karla while they paid the bill, at which point they noticed that a man was staring at them fixedly.

When they questioned the reason, he began to offend them by saying that their relationship only existed due to “a lack of p*ca”. The attacker also stated that the women were “mentally ill” and that they should “take medicine”.

Recordings made at the scene captured the moment of confusion and Jade trying to calm her companion.

Homophobia is a crime

“We never think it will happen to us until it happens! It’s very bizarre to think that we can’t go to the bakery, have a minute of peace”, lamented Jade on social media.

“Homophobia is a crime. We registered a police report and will take the appropriate legal action. Homophobes will not pass!”, she concluded.

In a statement, the Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo (SSP) confirmed that the parties were heard and that the images were forwarded to the investigation team of the 36th DP (Vila Mariana) for analysis and clarification of the case.
