Cuba President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Venezuela president Nicolás Maduro arrived in Moscow on Tuesday (6) before the 80th anniversary of victory day in World War II.
The two heads of state will meet on Wednesday (7) with Russian President Vladimir Putin, when they will sign a strategic partnership agreement, Kremlin said.
Spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented to reporters that it would be a “heavy, substantial and very important document table” without providing details.
The war between Russia and Ukraine triggered a collapse in relations with most western states. He also led Moscow to strengthen ties with other countries that share the desire to contain the influence of what he calls “collective West,” including the United States.
Since 2022, Russia has signed strategic partnership pacts with China, North Korea and Iran.
Venezuela has a recent story troubled with the United States, marked by broken diplomatic relations, sanctions and accusations of criminal activities and coup conspiracy.
During the visit in Moscow, Maduro should also attend commemorative events around the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union victory and his allies about Nazi Germany, including a military parade on Friday (9).
