Singer Preta Gil used social media this Monday (11) to announce the end of her cancer treatment. The singer was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in January this year and underwent several surgeries throughout the year.
“My loves, the day of this long-awaited video has finally arrived and it is with great joy that I come to share this news”, begins the artist. “My cancer treatment ends after surgery to reconstruct my intestinal tract and reverse the ilestomy!”
According to Preta Gil, she continues in the rehabilitation process and will remain under medical care for five years. “It’s common for cancer patients like me,” she assured. “I am very, very, very happy and grateful!!! To each person who left me a message of affection, to each hug of affection I received on the streets, to my entire support network, friends and family who never let go of my hand!!!”
She also thanked health professionals such as doctors, nurses, nursing technicians and physiotherapists. “It was a very difficult, painful year, but one of many victories, of a gigantic wave of love that was essential for my healing process!”, she wrote in the message.
In the publication, the singer also confirmed the Bloco da Preta in Rio de Janeiro in 2024. Scheduled for February 4, the 15th anniversary party of the Carnival block of Preta Gil will take place at the Jeunesse Arena. The event takes place after she canceled Bloco da Preta in 2023 due to cancer treatment.
“It’s going to be a very special, beautiful show and I want to bring everyone together for this party of love and gratitude! Thanks Thanks Thanks! Until then”, he concluded.
