Preta Gil , 49, will not perform on the first official day of São João da Thay, which will take place this Friday (7), in São Luís, Maranhão. Wanted by CNN the singer’s press office stated that, despite hospitalized in Rio de Janeiro due to a urinary infection she is doing well.
“We inform you that the artist Preta Gil is admitted to the Clínica São Vicente hospital, in Rio de Janeiro, for treatment of a urinary infection caused by a kidney stone. Preta is well, receiving medical care, and will soon return to her professional commitments”, said the note.
The singer was part of the line-up of the event promoted by the influencer Thaynara OG . Through social media, the São João da Thay profile announced the cancellation of Preta’s show.
“Preta Gil’s participation cannot take place as planned due to health reasons. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank everyone for their understanding,” they wrote.
In January 2023, Preta Gil was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, something that caused the singer to pause her career for most of the year. In August, the artist underwent surgery, which was successful. In December, she celebrated the end of her treatment.
