Daughter of Gilberto Gil, the artist underwent a long surgery to remove a tumor in December. Since then, she has remained hospitalized at Hospital Sírio Libanês, in São Paulo. “I know I’m missing, but I needed to stay away to focus fully on my rehabilitation. I had no idea this surgery would be so difficult,” she began.
In the video, Preta said that she thought the procedure would be similar to the surgery she had previously, however, this time, the recovery process is longer . “It’s a much bigger challenge, it’s daily, and I really needed to stay away to focus on myself, on getting well and on being able to get out of here as soon as possible,” he continued.
“I am rehabilitating myself. I am fine. I’m eating well, I’m walking, I’m exercising, I’m getting better every day. Everything only gets better, but it’s difficult. It’s relearning how to do many things,” he added.
Soon after, the singer explained the use of the medical device, fixed to the abdominal wall, and is responsible for collecting feces and gases when the large intestine does not function properly.
“I’m getting used to my colostomy bag. Yes, I had to have a colostomy bag inserted, this time permanently, and not temporary like last year. This time I will keep this bag forever and I am very grateful to her for that. I’m getting used to it,” he said.
“I am very well supported. I am very well assisted, not only by the doctors, but also by God, the Orixás, my saints and that makes all the difference. Your love makes all the difference. Your concern has reached here and I know you were worried, because I’ve been missing for a while and I don’t like leaving you worried, so I wanted to come here and talk to you in person”, he said.
