The singer and businesswoman Black Gil revealed, in an interview with Conversa com Bial, on TV Globo, that received very important advice from his father, Gilberto Gil while he was recovering from sepsis who suffered last year.
In the conversation broadcast on Tuesday (27), the voice of “Sinais de Fogo” told presenter Pedro Bial that she heard from her father that, if she felt she no longer had the strength to fight, she should accept the end of her life and go peacefully. According to Preta, Gil explained that she did not need to live fighting the disease.
“Daughter, nature is wise. We are part of it and we will return to it, this is part of life”, said Bial.
“If it’s too difficult for you and it’s your time, accept it,” Preta added. “If it’s too heavy for you, go, let it go. It’s really bad to live with this discomfort and struggle the way you’re struggling.”
The singer explained that the advice was very important for her to gather strength in her recovery, because it was only then that she realized that she did not want to die and needed to fight for her own life. Preta also added that, until that moment, no one had explained the severity of her health condition. She was hospitalized in the ICU after developing a generalized infection following a chemotherapy session and was at risk of dying.
“That turned a corner in my head because at no point had anyone told me that my life was still at risk. My father brought reality to me and I said: ‘I don’t want to die, no. It’s not my time, no’. And it worked really well,” he said. “It was great that he told me that because I was in deep shit.”
Preta believes that her health condition made Gilberto Gil go back to 2016, when he was hospitalized to treat chronic kidney failure. She said that, at the time, the singer of “Drão” and “Aquele Abraço” even gave up on treatment.
“He gave up at one point. He said: ‘It’s not working for me, I don’t want this treatment anymore, this treatment is going to kill me’. He asked the doctors to suspend the treatment he was undergoing. I think he put himself in that same situation,” he said.
Cancer return
On Sunday (25), Preta Gil published a video on her social media informing her followers that, despite being in remission from cancer, the disease returned and was found in four places.
“Not only in my case, but in the case of 40% of people who have primary cancer and that’s what happened to me, my cancer came back.”
She then explains the locations where the disease has settled: “I have two lymph nodes, I have a metastasis that is in the peritoneum and I have a nodule, a lesion in the ureter.” The singer went to the hospital to do her routine exams, when she was surprised by the diagnosis.
