The bodies of the three agents of the Federal Highway Police (PRF), who died on Friday (18) in an accident during a chase in the north of Rio de Janeiro, will be veiled and buried on Saturday (19) in different cemeteries of the state capital. The agents were identified as Rodrigo Pizetta Fraga, Carlos Eduardo Mariath Macedo and Diego Abreu de Figueiredo.
The farewell ceremonies that take place at Jardim da Saudade Cemetery (Sulacap) will have wakes from 12 noon to Carlos Eduardo Mariath Macedo and 12:30 pm to Rodrigo Pizetta Fraga. Diego Abreu de Figueiredo’s funeral will be at São João Batista cemetery from 14h, with burial scheduled for 4:30 pm.
The PRF released information about the agents. Rodrigo Pizetta Fraga 47, he was married and father of a daughter, acting at the Duque de Caxias police station since 2012. Carlos Eduardo Mariath Macedo 41, married and father of two children, was part of the PRF team since 2017, also housed in Duque de Caxias. Diego Abreu de Figueiredo 47, married and father of a child, worked at the Rio de Janeiro police station since 2022.
How was the accident
The accident that victimized the agents occurred around 1 am last Friday (18), during a pursuit of two motorcycles that disrespected a PRF Blitz mounted in Pottery.
In the action, the police car lost control, collided with several poles and, later, with a passenger car where a family was. The couple and daughter, a child, who were in the vehicle hit, received medical attention at the scene and were released without injury.
The collision was fatal to the three federal police officers in the car. A police room was rescued alive, sent to Getúlio Vargas Hospital and later was discharged.
The suspects who motivated the persecution managed to escape, and police take steps to identify and locate those involved, seeking images of security cameras that may have recorded what happened.
The PRF decreed an official three -day mourning in honor of the deceased agents. The circumstances of the accident follow under investigation.
