The Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized around half a ton of marijuana, on Tuesday afternoon (8), during a blitz on the Presidente Dutra Highway (BR-116).
The destination of the cargo would be Complexo da Penha, in the north of Rio de Janeiro.
According to the PRF, around noon, near Trevo das Margaridas, also in the north zone, agents from the 6th Police Station (Rio de Janeiro) approached a truck. After becoming suspicious of the driver, who, according to the police, was extremely nervous, the Dog Operations Group was called.
Several cardboard boxes containing hundreds of marijuana tablets were found.
The PRF adds that the driver confessed that he would receive a sum of money for transporting the drugs. He said he came from Paraná and would deliver to the communities of Penha, also in the north of the city.
