The Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized a large quantity of drugs that were heading to the city of Cabo Frio, in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro. The seizure was made on Thursday night (26) on Highway BR-101, near the city of Niterói.
According to the PRF, agents were monitoring the highway when they observed a pickup truck transporting a mattress outside the cargo compartment.
Upon approach, the driver informed that he was hired to carry out a freight from Duque de Caxias, a municipality in Baixada Fluminense, to Cabo Frio – the largest city in the Lakes Region of Rio and which at this time of year receives thousands of tourists.
Also according to the Federal Highway Police, when the police opened the back, they found several black bags and cardboard boxes containing a little more than 16 kilos of cocaine, almost 10 liters of perfume launcher and a simulated 556 caliber rifle.
The driver of the pickup was arrested red-handed.
