The priest who gave permission for singer Sabrina Carpenter to record the video for “Feather” inside a church in New York, United States, has been removed from his duties.
According to The New York Times, the diocese stated that Mons. Jamie J. Gigantiello, who allowed the church to film Sabrina Carpenter’s crew, did not follow “diocesan policy regarding filming on Church property, which includes a review of scenes and script.”
In the clip, released in October this year, the singer dances around the church and goes up to the altar, which is full of colorful coffins that belonged to the harassers that the singer took revenge on. The Diocese of Brooklyn denounced the video, saying it was “shocked by what was filmed.”
According to the vehicle, the dismissed priest even apologized and stated that the singer’s team approached him in September this year to talk about the filming. However, the end result was not what they had reported to him. The religious man also stated that he did research on Sabrina Carpenter’s history in her projects and didn’t think there would be a problem.
The song is one of those on his latest album, titled “Emails I can’t send”, which reached the public in 2022. Carpenter gained complete rise in pop when he went viral on TikTok with the single “Nonsense”.
Sabrina Carpenter was a figure present in Brazil in 2023. The 24-year-old singer opened Taylor Swift’s six shows in the country in November, in addition to being one of the attractions at the Mita festival, in June.
