Prince Andrew: Loses Title – Accused of Sexual Abuse

THE Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth’s second-born son, relinquished his military titles and relinquished all of his royal patronage, Buckingham Palace announced, a day after US justice rejected his request to file the case of a woman accusing him of sexual abuse.

“With the consent and approval of the Queen” the titles and patronymics of the Duke of York returned to her. Andrew “will continue not to hold public office and will defend himself in this case as an individual,” the statement added. This note implies that Queen Elizabeth will not pay the legal fees and fees of his lawyers.

A royal source said Andrew would no longer use the title of “Royal Highness” and that his other roles would be assigned to other members of the royal family.

Earlier, more than 150 British Army veterans called on the Queen to remove the titles of Andrew, a helicopter pilot who had distinguished himself in the Falklands War. In a letter released by the anti-monarchist organization Republic, the veterans accuse the prince of failing to honor his military service by displaying “usefulness, honesty and respectable conduct”.

The 61-year-old Andrew has been sued in the courts of New York by the American Virginia Gioufre, who accuses him of sexually abusing her three times when she was 17 years old. He claims that he was handed over to the prince by the pedophile stockbroker Jeffrey Epstein, who was his friend.

Doukas denies these accusations, but after a disastrous interview he gave in 2019, he was forced to leave public life.

ITV quoted a source in the prince’s office as saying that his legal advisers were not surprised by yesterday’s US court ruling. However, they noted that the judge’s decision did not concern the substance of the case.
